i'm pretty sure it's "chimney falls and lovers blaze" the first time, but "chimney falls as lovers blaze" the second time (at least on the album version)-- although i don't think too much of the meaning hinges upon that distinction. i took this to be a metaphor for the disintegration of their union... love burning out, something once strong now crumbling... now she's cold and lonely.
