This song means a lot to me. If Aaron Lewis has(or had) BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder, which I suspect), then this song would be all about what it's like in most areas, and about his journey to recovery.

"I know everything can change, what I need is to open up again" - That's saying to me that recovery is possible through therapy, but first you have to bite the bullet and open up again, no matter how hard it is or you'll never get better.

"Are you satisfied? I've given all I can." - Think we can all relate to this one.. where it feels like nothing you ever do is good enough and you continuously run on empty.

Backtracking in the lyrics a bit... "I know that it never goes away, all I feel.. everything I'm not today" - Not being able to accept yourself, and hating yourself, blind to all your accomplishments only puts the icing on the cake. BPD people suffer from a "lack of emotional skin". A small insult that most can shrug off is something that those with BPD cannot. The neverending search for perfection and self-acceptance continues...

And about the chorus: I'm thinking that the "lies they sold you" is about religion and most other things that people are suckered in to because they feel the need to believe in something that will make them feel better and more secure. The TV line is straight forward.. watch the news, sit back and either A) Take all the bad, scary news in that they want you to hear (because bad news sells) and convince yourself that the world's a scary place, or B) Turn the TV off and realize that there's always something going bad in the world somewhere and always has been. The world's not getting worse, media coverage is just getting more and more widespread, selling you the bad, evil news that you want to hear to give you some excitement in your life (or to get massive ratings for their show).

I've ranted enough, but back to the song: By the end, it sounds like he's learnt that even the toughest battle can be beaten and that life should be enjoyed, not endured.
