This song has a significant meaning to me. It reminds me of a certain somebody I'm writing a story on.
In the story, a demon comes to this girl..and he basically tells her he will lead her down the "right" path. To me, the chorus lyrics
"And he will save us now,
and he will take us underground"
Represents how either the demon in my story will either kill her and release her from the depressions (such as fruitless expeditions in love) the world provides, or he will lead her to Hell, which would make anyone think of Earth much differently.
"We follow the sound,
It's leading us down,
Into the kingdom of under.
We're lost and we're found
We're nothing and nowhere
Forever and ever"
And to this place the demon may take the girl, may be brought by illusions of a better world, so she follow the "sound" of that. Only when you're dead or you lost in life, but you're remembered and found by name. You're nothing now because you're not living, but you're also nowhere because your soul has left the world.
My story was never meant to be fixed on this song, and so when I heard it, it almost made me cry. It has a sweet melody, and the person may not be a demon, but as Okapiqueen said, some kind of deity, but I think it's more darker than Jesus.
