I consider myself a Dickinson fan, but the album is disappointing.
This song in particular is the avatar to my feeling of the whole album. From the beginning, the album appears to be a more personal album than past Dickinson albums. From his love of flying, history and, of course in the case of abduction, his love of science-fiction first explored in his Skunkworks days. The instrumentation was exceptional, however, due to the personal nature of Bruce Dickinson, the album at a whole was pretty decadent. Not to mention, upon cursory glance, the album art looks very cartoonish....even if it was formally a painting.
I guess i've just been listening to 'The Chemical Wedding' and 'Scream for me Brazil' too long.
