this song is so catchy but as i listen to it more, the meaning of the song changes; i used to think paul was in the 3rd person, then i believed it was the 1st person and now im back in the 3rd again. On one side you can see the 1st person's focus upon the downsides ('broken dreams and a heart that's stuck to the ground') stops him from getting the girl (shown in 'some people say that the answer comes from within, meanwhile she'll say i love you paul').
Or you can see it as Paul being the 1st person, someone who beats himself up but has a loving girlfriend (the uplifting guitar riff in the chorus can emphasise this, the hey hey part too), possibly not wanting to be in a relationship? either way, it's an amazing song, definatly one of my top 3...
