I think this song is about how a girl told a guy that she wanted to take a break (or she "needed space") and she's making him wait and wait until she is ready, but it's killing him and he is suffering and it's hard for him to believe and wants to know if the waiting will be worth it ("If there's a bright side to this suffering, can you help me see? It's getting harder to believe.")
