I just saw Rob in concert last night and he played this song and explaned the meaning: he said when he and Matchbox 20 first went back to his home town to play a concert he didn't let any who was mean to them in the past come to the show.
He said "I know it's petty, I'm 34 now and I know better, but I can't help it. I still don't let the people who were mean to me come to my shows. Some times nice people just have to say [stuck up his middle finger]".
