It seems like he's basically saying he is in love with this girl, but either doesn't want to trivialize it by defining it simply as "love" or he's just scared to, even though he wants to "be her everything".

I guess it makes me think of when you see a person you care about who is so sad or depressed and you just want to be able to tell them you love them and fix their life (whether you're truly in love with them or not), but its never just that simple.
