I am not confident in its meaning, but I will go as far to say that it's about trying to get over someone, but you can't because they keep haunting your dreams/nightmares and it's scary. Will you ever get over them?
I love this, "you give me chills and then you leave me cold". So powerful. Almost as though they excite you, and then they don't follow through, teasing... making it seem as though you've changed for the better, but only on the surface.
