This is my favourite Family song and one of the best examples of the late 60s/early 70s fusion of heavy rock, jazz and folk styles. Family had a reputation as a wild yet innovative band that produced music that shifted tempo and key at various stages in the song and between styles of rock and folk.
This song comes from the Song For Me album, first track, and hat a way to start.. the song opens with a gentle acoustic guitar that sounds country and then suddenly all hell breaks loose with Chapman's gravel tones and a cascade of sounds which as the song progresses alternates between heavy style bashing and lighter melody. Some great 60s jazz flute and fuzzed guitars.
