Alright, so the person relies on something, because no one is there, and the only other thing that makes them feel they can only face if they rely on whatever they do. Whatever it may be, drugs, cutting, alchohol, etc. Whtever it is they seem to be hinting that it is something they should not be doing, but they have to to keep from just losing touch with it all.
