I thnk this song may be a little too purposely ambiguous to accurately explicate, but my sense is that the singer is someone with an intense crush on someone in a loveless relationship. He's not really attempting to woo her, but simply expressing his burning desire. The deep baseline and hot trumpet only back my suspicion.
