I read in a book that the "Maggie" in the second verse originally had a whole song about her on this album, but it was cut. The DJ that shows up is the same guy as in the title track. I don't know what Joe is doing there, though. If it's the same Joe as in the song on the album, then it seems odd that he would be in the backyard trying to keep things simple. Shouldn't he be in a high-rise trying to keep things profitable? Unless he's trying to keep things simple in the sense that they're formulaic. Either way, I've rambled enough about this song.
