This song seams to me to have many strong references to the Human Desire towards material things, for example:
"Your lust, desire will blind your senses"
"Touch what you can't have
While i have what you can't touch for now"

And right after that he says
"My friend, all of this will turn to ash"
I think maybe that the "My friend" bit is just to keep the song's rythm but it's the second part of that line that's important, because he is trying to get accross that while humans have this desire for material things. sooner or later, let's face it, we will all turn to ash.
