This song doesn't really have a meaning; not lyrically anyway. I've never heard this version so I don't know what MCR did with it, but the original is a loud and distorted grunge anthem designed to get you pumped. It was Blur's way of incorporating the American mainstream of the time in to their music so they could break in to a new market.
