Obviously there aren't many hip hop heads on this site if there's only one Cage song. Thanks for adding it hak... check out the Cunninlynguists, Heiruspecs and Immortal Technique pages. Pretty much all me. Anyway...
Honestly, this song is inferior to Atmosphere's Hair for just about every reason. The story is about exactly the same, finding the perfect girl only to fuck it up because of drugs/alcohol. It's just that Cage often has shock value for shock value's worth. Something he's cut back on a just a LIL bit on Hell's Winter. In Atmosphere's Hair you don't see it coming as it comes at the very end after clever dialogue, etc. Where as Cage just loves to linger in the most fucked up situations possible.
haha, i love all those artists you mentioned. i hate that ppl don't know great hip-hop. i was readin about Shia Labeouf doin a Cage movie on the mtv website, and the comments were like, "i dont know who this 'cage' is, but i love shia." Pisses me off, haha

I actually much prefer the beat in this song to Atmosphere's "Hair" while both do have an intense story to follow. I like where Cage went with it, and YES, it is for shock value, but think of this; if you are going to write a song about a car crash (especially if you've been in one and know how fucked up and high strung they are) why not make the emotions show in the heavy lyrics and beat, rather than put a happy wappy beat to it? Both songs are good, Cage's isn't inferior in my book...

"Honestly, this son is inferior to Atmosphere's Hair for just about every reason." - I can't TELL you how much I disagree. Cage's flow is better, lyric choice is better, rhyme scheme is better, beat is better... the only thing that Atmosphere did better was storyline. Also, I think that if you're gonna write a story about a car crash maybe there should be more than one line about it. Seemed unfinished- though I understand that was part of the point. Atmosphere is awesome... but Cage is ridiculous.
