Don't really like this song too much, but it's obviously about the fate of your typical romantic relationship. Starts out fresh and amazing, you're in love, but eventually the passion just fades away and you get bored of her/she gets bored of you, and then you can't stand each other anymore. All the while you lose months/years of your life while you're together. Makes you wonder if you would have been better off never getting involved in the first place.
But better to have loved and have lost, than never to have loved at all, right?
