Never Bought It Lyrics

It's my favourite song on "Hand It Over", with My Bloody Valentines Belinda Butcher (and maybe Kevin Shields) supplying backing vocals on the chorus.

It's about splitting up with someone. He's realised he's not the only one to blame and that there's faults on both sides but he's laying his side down.

He's worked out that he's had enough (done his time) and that although she pays no attention to his general life she pays attention to the little details that annoy her.

The prechorus of "So why, you, me now?" is just questioning the whole lot, why are they together.

The chorus itself is pointing the finger back - he always taken the blame and believed that he was to blame for everything, but he's now realised he's not.

And the whole crux is why should he stick around cause she doesn't give him anything "fine". He's getting nothing - so why should he give anything?

And the title bit is saying that he's never really been that happy with everything, so is it real what he's been feeling?
