If you love this song (and how could you not? :D) but haven't taken the time to find out who Paul Robeson is, please do! Actor, singer, athelete, multilingual, and all around cool guy. He was black listed during the McCarthy era for his political beliefs; he was a supporter of Socialism. Not only was he unable to perform in the US, his passport was revoked so he could no longer perform overseas. His impressive and beautiful body of work was buried by a paranoid nation, so a depressingly small number of people know who he is today.
It does my heart good to see such a moving tribute to him.
