This is possibly my favorite DH song. The song is about a person who pretends everything is okay with their Christian life, but in reality are struggling or perhaps have never even had a sincere salvation.
The chorus, I believe, is God's promise that he will never leave us nor forsake us no matter how many times we "play dead".
The second verse is just awesome. It is the person remembering what it was like to be close to God and remembering what Christ did. "Two broken hands lift seven wounds and fight to stand to keep the lungs from caving." That's an obvious reference to the Catholic tradition of the seven wounds of Christ and the song is Christ on the cross, pushing himself up to keep his lungs from collapsing.
