Underwater Lyrics

This, to me, is a song about a girl who lives an unfulfilling life. Since she doesn't have anyone she can rely on

("And any hold that she can find Something to lean on Everybody fails her half the time)

so she turns to smoking and drinking ("candle" maybe symbolizing a cigarette... I dunno, maybe--and the "bottle", of course). These just make matters worse, and what's worse, her life's passing before her eyes. Sounds to me like she's on the downward spiral, in over her head, and thinks she's still got time to get out. Like the people who constantly say "I could quit smoking at any time if I wanted to," yet never quit. They deny their addiction. She's in denial as well, over maybe more than one thing. I dunno, just my interpretation. Awesome song, the jazz-piano bit in the middle was a nice touch.
