It sounds to me like a person who's involved with someone rebellious and naturally inclined to be a rulebreaker, and has basically assumed a part of this other person's identity and tried to live the same way. But it seems at this point, she's admitting that it's not her (she's especially tired of being the one who actually does the bad stuff: "you were baking biscuits"), and it's time for the other person to reciprocate and try being good for a while (hence the invitation in the title and chorus). The second verse describes the partner's personality, while the third seems to show that she's not really too optimistic about their chances of staying together (and not sorry about that, either).
