I prefer to think of this song as the guy isn't really in a different economic class as this girl, but rather he's putting her on a pedastal. He likes her, so everything she has/does is the best.

And then suddenly at the end of the song it turns out that she does like him, and he can't believe it because he always had always thought that she was too good for him.

I'm probably wrong, but sometimes I like to use my own meanings, rather than the actual meaning of the song =)

I believe you're right on. =D

That seems to be so true

I definitely agree with this. You don't have to be in a different class as someone else to think someone is too good for you. I think he's just admired her to the point where she's become this ethereal being. I feel like this song captures that moment when, regardless of how confident in yourself you are, you find out the person you're interested in likes you back and you go, "Me? Really? Why me?" It's that feeling of ecstasy and nervousness mixed together. It's the beginning of a relationship, and you're wondering how you became so lucky.
