But on a more general level i think the song is just about your past finnaly catching up to you. You've wrong people many a times, and gotten away with it, but now your going to pay for it. The key line "You've been burning the candle at both ends". Which is like, you've betrayed all your freinds and hurt your enemies, and now you have nowhere left to run.
