Back again with number 4. To be honest, I'm starting to sound like a broken record but my best guess is that this is another tale of Hollywood tragedy. This time we are faced with the star of the song, appropriately "The Greatest Actor Alive" and the tale of his revelation.
Just as light pours in the room
I saw it once, it disappeared and so did you
(I can see The Greatest Actor Alive coming off set into his dark trailer. After a very stressful day for this thespian, he turns to his fuel - his light that sees him through the bad times. Drugs. Living in Hollywood, he quickly became addicted to it, and has dabbled and sold to make ends meet before he became famous. While he is getting high, he sees God - but only briefly. He dissapears and so does the rest of his drugs)
The morning after I will kiss your ghost
Just let go
(Sitting alone, he promises that he will try and talk to God again once he gets some more substances, but he wants to let it go. But how can he when he had a chance to talk to God?)
"I felt safe" And she's been singing out of tune
(The actor feels safe when he is on drugs. I only assume it's a he because Actor = He. The sinigng out of tune is a metaphor that means because of his steadily growing addictions it is affecting his career and he's "acting out of place" or "singing out of tune")
Just then I'm "Flying to the Moon" I don't know where
I don't know when but someone's gonna give me in
(When he "flies to the moon" he gets high. He is worried that at one point, because he is so obsessed with his highs and filling up that big empty void, someone is gonna find him out)

(Trying a different approach, the actor tries writing to God. He Is Legend continues it's traditional tongue-in-cheek play on words and the actor "prays that He will hear him". Writing to God is like writing to Santa (no response), but to pray that He would hear would theoretically summon the aid of God out of his failure-of-a-letter anyways. But anyhow, The actor starts apologizing to God and asking for forgiviness)
The Mourning after I'm stuck in your throat (so let go)
(God says that He will forgive the actor but he has to spread the word of him in the city of Hollywood; a place where the need for God is nonexistant, and that once the word of God is "stuck in her throat" she can redeem herself for preaching to the sinners. Hollywood, to me, is coming across as a metiphorical way to portray the city where Jesus grew up - full of the wicked and sinners. Now it is the actors turn to play the role of Jesus and teach this city to change it's ways. Being The Greatest Actor Alive, he could virtually get everyones attention - one movie at a time)
I left my mouth wide open
(The actor is in shock)
It reminds me of you choking
(When somebody chokes they cannot speak, and therefore he is speechless because he has nothing to say to God)
I never saw the horses when they lined beside your bed
I never saw the officers but I heard what they said
(Once again, it seems every He Is Legend song will stump me in one line guarenteed. I think this could just be supporting the idea of speaking to God. He isn't nessecarily seeing Him while He is speaking, but he still hears His word.)
You know, I can't seem to breathe when you're here
(The actor turns back to his former god - the drugs. He says that he can no longer rely on them because it would ultimately cause another downward spiral. The actor decides that he will live for God instead of materialistic things Hollywood provides)
