The 1st verse seems like they are lamenting.

way too fast
while others, they play it safe
and I play it safe now"
This could be a metaphor to the person taking things for granted only to realise what he has lost.
Or if looked at another way. Two different paths;chose one. Though it may not be what he wants, he feels compelled to do something different.
I love the tune. It's very relaxing. The whole cd has that aura to it. Leaves me wanting more.
