Hm, I took this song completely differently... I took it as someone trying to help their friend who was suicidal (or cutting themselves) for a completely crazy reason. They thought the person was getting better, but as soon as he/she looked like it was improving, they went and killed themselves, or started cutting themselves again, unintentionally dying in the process.
"Yeah, Yeah
Walking example of you
Wait for the silence
Talking backwards to you"
This would be basically how the conversations went. One person in silence, the other "talking backwards" in a sense, because nothing they said changed anything. They might as well have been saying all their words backwards.
"It meant nothing to me
Watching the world fall on you
I'm keeping my eyes closed
Now I can see what this means to you
It meant nothing to me"
Well, "watching the world fall on you" I basically took as the person's death. They're "keeping my eyes closed" because it's hard to admit that the person wasn't helped by them. What it (the help he gave) means to them was nothing... Which is why, now, after the death, it means nothing to him, either.
"This wasted so many nights and again
I've wasted so much time on a friend
Too young, too proud to understand
So this is the end"
The refrain really made me think it was about this. He's wasted all his time trying to talk them out of it, but they were too young and too proud to realize he might be right, and it wasn't as big as it seemed. "So, this is the end," obviously implies the end of a life.
"Perfect timing for you
You'll run 'til your legs break
So here's my reminder of you
It meant nothing to me"
"Perfect timing" being a cruel, sarcastic remark... "Run 'til your legs break" implying some type of self-harm. If you were running, you would stop before something bad happened, so they were obviously hurting themselves intentionally.
"We should've seen this coming" is said a lot when something like this happens, in my experience, anyway.
But, just my interpretation. I do think the title, "Razorblades" goes better with my interpretation than the girl using him interpretation... I didn't really see that one right away, but it could be both.
