I dont think this is a love song at all - this song reminds me of Under The Bridge (not saying its as good, as much as I love the Subways there arent many bands that could top that song). It just reminds me of under the bridge in the sense that it appears to be more of a song about being lost in the world, and walking down the streets of a city, because it makes you feel better - you kind of take comfort in it. I dont know if anyone gets my meaning here but its hard to explain.
