i dont think its that hes actually in a mental instutution just that hes put himself in this situation n exsaturating things and letting ideas and things wonder away in his mind like the magic wand and time machine about how easy it would be to change the things hes done and when it says "it seems so sad to call this home..." i think hes talking about what choices we're made to get himself where hes at in life although it could actually be reffering to someone in a mental hospital idk maybe it doesnt specifically point to either of the 2 but idk
