I saw Savage Garden in 1998 during their To the Moon and Back tour and Darren introduced this song as being in reference to Daniel's wishful love affair with Meg Ryan. While I'm positive the song started out that way, I also have a sneaking suspicion that Darren added his own two cents in there toward the end. In the beginning, the song is about the passion and desire to be loved and held by someone in particular, but toward the end it sort veers off into the direction of Darren mocking stardom in itself. The last few lines of the song seem like Darren is blatantly poking fun at being a rock star and how he's being treated like royalty. It's kind of like he's rolling his eyes at the glamourous lifestyle that's being served up on a silver platter. It seems to be all in good fun, of course. It's refreshing though, to see a rock star mocking royalty so openly. I love how Darren must add his personal touch to everything. Fabulous. :)
