Tom Marshall said in an interview he conciously wrote this song to his son, as if it was in the future and he had died, and he was sending him this message. He noticed, because of the similarities pointed out, that he may have sub-conciously written about the 9-11 attacks in the song. This was written shortly after 9-11-01 with some of the lyrics:
"And when it fell
you caught my heart
before it hit the ground
but if you ever need the names
of those you couldn't save
you'll find them on the walls of the cave"
"look away
the time goes past
these rocks will fall
away at last
look away"
along with the initials of the title Walls (of) The Cave - WTC
