-possibly explaining to her that this is exactly how he feels. 'take this for what its worth' telling to to take this literally.

-stating that he's writing this song feeling broken and lost, almost as if he's actually writing from hell

-apparently (maybe not so apparently) SHE has moved on and found somebody else, (possibly a friend of his?) leaving him with a broken heart

-like i stated in my first post, im not 100% sure what hes reffering to here, but possibly that by holding her hand he gave total control of his heart to her, and she abused that power by hurting him. looking at the stars would help him get over this feeling, but tonight the stars aren't there

-he's possibly 'painting the town red', looking for someone to take this girl's place, hoping that someone new might help him forget her. maybe not 'forget' her, but ease his mind of the situation.

-he has now moved on, and falls in love with someone else

-he's not alone tonight, and she's crying. possibly she 'broke his heart' to make him jealous. she might even still want to be with him, but either she fucked up and decided that she didnt need him anymore and realized later that she did, in fact, need him, OR maybe she's just jealous that he's not dwelling on her any longer.
“will i fall within the break? ill watch you fall.”
-he's asking if he'll be the one to take this break badly, or if it'll be her. and the second part 'ill watch you fall' proves that it's, in fact, HER that takes it worse, as SHE'S the one to fall.
