A friend of mine told me there is a saying having to with only seeing pink, which is always looking on the bright side of things. This contrasts with the video's dark color scheme. References to shadowy figures working behind the scenes, money changing hands, the media machine. A garbage man three eyes. The president as puppet. The threat of weapons, war. The video works on so many levels, and the song is at once beautiful and horrific. This is a great protest song, no matter what your politics.
