In it he suggests that he has been wallowing about not achieving things in life in the way he hoped and his poor girlfriend has got really fed up with how pointless his misery seems. Anyhow, it seems that she has now made him see sense and that the most important thing in his life is being with her. He now realises that he wants to be happy and build a good life with her.
In other words, he is suggesting that this is what true love's about, having someone to help keep you down to earth and, of course, appreciating each other. I played this song a lot leading up to my wedding as it was particularly meaningful to me then.
