Out guess (husband and myself) was that Howie Day tends to write many songs to himself – we are pretty sure that “She Says” was written to himself, as was this.
The only debate we have is if he actually HAS the girl or not – I say not (“if you want her you can’t have her”) he says he does (“think about her now, she’s yours anyways”). I say it’s all in his head, that he has never even talked to her, he just wants her.
Now, the “demons” part is a bit over-dramatic in my view – the point he is trying to make is that he is aware of how far he is from reality, but can’t care about that now.
