I have loved this song since I was the height of two daisies but have only recently really listened to the words. It's great because lyrics are so sad yet the music is happy. IMO the singer is in love with someone popular who has a lot of love. They feel they should be with them and are willing to wait and all the while, the love just grows. Quite possibily my favourite song... (the shame!)
