not to disagree, i can see what you me, Delomo, but I feel makeartnotmath might be on the right track. songs can mean whatever to different people, esp. nick drake's music. but i feel that he is trying to make a statement about life in general. he might me talking to those around him in this world, or maybe even life itself. maybe life, as an enity, chooses who it will dance for and make shine, or who it will take(death). if it won't take him, well, who do you love? b/c he, nick, is looking for some direction.....my best efforts at this song, tell me what you think....
