Anyway...this song can apply to so many situations but I'll only get into one of them.
I'm going to take the son/daughter to his/her father and/or mother perspective because the song kind of reminded me of the lyrical content in "For You" from their Break the Cycle album.
Anyway...one interpretation of this song I see is that it's a son/daugther response to a domineering parent that can never be satisfied. For example...son trying to impress/gain acceptance from their father, but nothing is ever good enough to please his old man.
I came up with this from the following lyrics: "Chances are you're oblivious to how I feel, sitting on your throne. And I'm sure that I'm not alone" ... "Who the fuck did you want me to be? Was it something that I couldn't see? Never knew this would be so political" ... "I've swallowed all your answers, I've swallowed all my pride" ...
