This song certainly IS by Sarah McLachlan...on the 'Solace' album. It's lovely, and quite melodramatic, though I think that works in its favour. Less metaphorical than some of her other songs, the lyrics are poetic and straightforward--they remind me a bit of an old ballad or a Loreena McKennit style story-song. Probably because it's got several lines that set it in a particular time and place, so I get a clear visual image here.
