El Mañana Lyrics

Am I the only person left on Earth who knows grammar, punctuation, and spelling? "Typo" doesn't even begin to describe how the English language is being butchered online these days... Maybe that's what "Last Living Souls" is about....

Anyway, I agree that this song is about a man who is dying. I don't believe that he's in Iraq, but he did serve there. The song takes place in the future. He doesn't feel that God wants him anymore. "Summer don't know me" implies to me that he feels out of place during the summer (a time of hot weather and LIFE) because he took innocent lives in Iraq (a time of hot weather and DEATH). The innocent blood he took makes him feel guilty and sinful to the point that he can't attone for it. "Lost my mind" is the only explanation that he can offer for his actions, and he believes that god won't think it's a good excuse. Hence the repetition of "Maybe in time You'll want to be mine." He's trying desperately to convince himself that there is still hope for him.

Thanks for pointing out the spelling and grammar, people these days are atrocious to the English language.

@FacUtSciam For all the trash talking, your English is no better. Ellipses are not periods, and if you attempt to end a sentence with one, you still need to follow it with a period. Quotations also require punctuation. You misspelled "atone", and "God" is a proper noun. These are just the syntactical errors, your semantics are much worse.
