This is my opinion... and you should make your own also about the song too. I believe hat this song is about exactly what it says it is. The singer is singing about the fact that he is sick and tired of a world so cold. He explains how the world is cold in the intro, then goes on to tell you how he is running away from it, and why. This may be talking about a relationship that caused this, or just the world as a whole, I'm not quite sure there... here's a breakdown.
"When Passion's Lost and all the trust is gone For way to Far for Way to Long, Children Crying, Cast out and neglected.." This part is talking about the current setting of our world. Our trust is gone, with terrorists everywhere, and the passion is gone, because no one feels for this world like they used too... children crying, cast out and neglected is a normal occurence in our world today.. This begins the explantion of why our world is cold..
The chorus "Fever inside the storm, so I'm turning Away..." he tells you he sick and tired of the world being such a cold place, why, and what he is doing about it. Turning and running away, cause he's through mending the wounds of us [as a world, or maybe a relation of two people, not quite sure here].
"I'm backing out, I'm no pawn, no mother-fuckin slave to this, Never lied, Never left, Never lived, Never loved, Never lost, Never Hurt, Never Worry About being me, or anyone else..." [Lyrics taken from the CD's book jacket. They are NOT wrong] This breakdown may be directed towards a single person, but I see it directed towards the entire population. That's debatable. He goes on to say he needs to find a darkneded cornor, where it's safer and calmer. Maybe so he can rest for a while, and take a break from this world so cold.
Like I said, it's my opinion, not based on anything but looking over the lyrics outta the book and typing down my opinion here.
