I'm surprised that this song has so few comments - it's quite possibly my favourite U2 song of all. I admit, however, that I've always taken the song quite literally, and I'm not quite sure how anyone could think it must be about anything the IRA have ever done. I'd have said that the line 'without mourning' almost certainly voids any commentary on a bombing.
'Love is blindness' would appear to be a play on 'love is blind', and in many ways, I think Bono's take is much closer to the truth. I'm not entirely sure why, but this song but strikes a chord with me - aside from the instrumentation and Bono's vocals being very haunting indeed.
