I really like this son, but ShesMyAlcatraz, I'd have to disagree. Distant Shores is the best, serious, FIF song. Heck, they even throw in some Every New Day at the end of it. You can't beat that. =P

On to the song, what this song means to me. To me, Reese is lamenting (the whiner. Haha, just kidding. Reese, if you read this, I have the highest regards for you and your hair) his own humanity, how he is doomed to make mistakes and fall into the same sin over and over again. The years have made him bitter towards himself. (And then with thunderous praise and lofty adoration, a second passes by, yet nothing changes. Possibly the best line of the whole song.)

By the end, he realizes what he must do to change-- Surrender himself fully to the love and grace of Christ, and realizes that through Christ, even for a sinner like himself, there is hope.

This song, I must say, has had some of the most meaning for me, personally...
