Who would've thought that one day Supergrass might create one of the best songs of any year? St. Petersburg is my favorite track from arguably the best supergrass album to date. The song is about the desire of leaving one's tedious meaningless life and heading for a better one. But this desire can be nothing more than a dream or a wish that we assure ourselves it will happen someday in order to overcome hardships and the sense of loss. The piognancy of the song lies in the fact that such a dream might never come true and we know that but we can't really let go because without it, our neverending quest of finding salvation will be doomed.
