I heard another interpretation of this song - that it's about drinking/drunk driving.
It explains a lot if you think about it - why she's talking to a police officer (drunk driving), that she has no control over gravity (it "plays favourites" - she keeps falling over because she's drunk).
It also explains why she's reciting the alphabet and the "right foot left foot" (they're making her walk in a straight line and say the alphabet to test if she's drunk or not).
"Trading in my talents by the mouthful"
I also used to think that this line was about a blow job, but it also could be in reference to alcohol.
Anyway, this is only one interpretation that just makes a lot of sense to me.
