He is saying that he knows he should be sad that she died, and he hates to admitt it, but hes really happy because her death taught him not to take little things for granted. so now he can enjoy the beautiful views and things that come with life. Vefore she died, him andher had wished it would snow, because it never did since they were in texas. it finally snowed, but after she died, so she never lived to see it.
