I don't know about the whole God thing...It could be capitalized because it's a specific person..I just don't think he'd say some of those things about God...It sounds more like a girlfriend or something...Like "While your eyes rest in mine" and "the way you drew me close"...It sounds like a female to me...If it was God, it would seem a bit awkward with the staring like lovers at eachother...
I think it could go either way. He could mean it like he is putting god close to his heart and kind of enfolded in his spirituality. The capital Y doesn't really explain much, because Tim capitalizes "you" every time he writes it. It could just be bad grammar, but I sort of doubt that.

P.S. Lambesis purposely waters down the religiousness of his lyrics to make them more universal. You never know if he is writing about his faith or about his life and he does it on purpose. I personally like it because I'm not a very religious person and it makes the lyrics mean something more to me than if it was just the kind of crap some of the less talented christian lyricists come up with. Tim is probably my favorite lyricist.

I really think it's about God. After all, As I Lay Dying is a Christian band.

Would a girl really give you "meaning to life"? I don't think so. This song is about how he is caught in the darkness of earthly life and discovers a refuge through God. The reason the lyrics are written the way they are is because the lyricist has discovered that the love of God is greater than all else. Looking at him and drawing his close are symbols that represent simply growing in his relationship....

If you are not a very religious person, being a strong Christian, I'd be very happy to share some of my thoughts with you. Looking at As I Lay Dying's lyrics is actually a decent start.
If that's the way you feel about God, then you misunderstand the relationship of Savior and Sinner.

It's a friendship. Christianity is a friendship with Christ, a friendship with a living savior. It's not just a type of thing that we say "Hai, gimm3 st00fz pl0x?" when we need something, it's a true friendship. Christ walked around with the apostles, correct? He didn't go around commanding people to glorify Him-He came to SERVE others. He came to BEFRIEND those who were lost, to SHOW them HOPE.
