this song encompasses for me that feeling of insecurity and worry that someone cared deeply for is going to leave at a moment's notice. the feeling as if all you do is make mistakes and make things go wrong, miss out on opportunities and meet failure after failure. and in the end, you're just begging them to help you up if you should fall along the way... though his tone of voice implies he figures the person won't. which is an even worse feeling. being disappointed all the time has that effect on a person, though.
"in the night the city's quiet
from the rooftop we can see the moon rise high above the clouds
just enough light to see our faces give expression
to the words we thought but didn't speak,"
i love the imagery i get from these lines. and i know how that feels... so obviously expressing in every way what you mean, and yet not verbalizing it. it's strange conversing with someone in that way...and never uttering a word.
Edited by delial on May 28 2008, at 06:38AM
