SwimAndy that seems about exactly right...I guess I took it more literally, but now that I think about it the "surgery" works better as a metaphor. But if being cold is a metaphor for loneliness, why does he say "'cause when it's colder, I feel much better"? Is it just that he's realizing how much he pities himself?
