To me this song is him breaking up with someone. He's like, "The love that I once knew still has a hold on me" Basically, he is telling her that he thought he could get over the other girl ( who was the love of his life), but now he has realized that he can't. And in some ways, it's not fair for the girl he's with now for him to be in this relationship that's not really working... especially when he is still in love with that other gurl. My fave line is the last one, because I feel the pain that is feeling! "It's not that I don't want to love you... I just can't get over her!" Sometimes, even when your head tells you to do the "right" thing or the smart thing- your heart tells you to do something else. In this case, he WANTS to love this one girl and focus his attentions on her, but he can't becuz he is still in love with the other one. LOVE IT!
